PLAY THIS:
CONCESSION STREET

Welcome to Concession Street, or as it has been known in the past, Stone Road... Mount Hamilton... and Little Africa. We're so glad that you've arrived.

PLAY THIS: Concession Street is found in a collision of poetry, storytelling, history, and truth. Written by Hamilton poet Klyde Broox, this piece explores the history of early Black settlement on the mountain and invites us to consider how stories and - more importantly – whose stories are told, shared, and remembered.

We invite you to begin your journey at the Concession Street branch of the Hamilton Public Library on the corner of Concession and Cliff Avenue. The tour will take you to four points of interest along the Concession Street strip and will last approximately 25 minutes. The tour is best experienced 'on location' and from a mobile device with headphones. Please remember to be aware of your surroundings and that Covid-19 protocols are in place.

Whenever you're ready, we invite you to press 'play' on location #1 and begin your journey.
