Hearing 'Pictures at an Exhibition'

Developed by a non-musician, Hearing 'Pictures at an Exhibition' is a hybrid live concert/science experiment that asks how classical music is best experienced. Audiences are guided though the composition Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky, with each movement used as an experiment to explore the sound through the senses, the imagination, and story. We finish with a vote where the audience decides if the experiment was a success.

Hearing 'Pictures at an Exhibition' was created by Trevor Copp and Mimi Han with the music of Modest Mussorgsky for Hamilton Culture days and premiered with pianist Alexander Selyakov at the Festival of the Sound in Parry Sound.
